ASOCANAFI was founded in August 2011 by indigenous Paez families to maintain community unity and revive the traditional “minga” collective work system. Over 170 families now farm 2-4 hectares each on protected indigenous lands with 6,000+ trees per hectare. ASCISP followed in 2014 with the same commitment to respecting Mother Earth and asserting indigenous rights through coffee. High in cloud-covered mountains, coffee grows in volcanic soil where “Fabrica” means Cloud Factory.
