In the Gypsy Mountains of Caconde, where natural springs feed the Rio Pardo watershed, a community decided in 2008 to stop selling coffee as a commodity. Instead of local brokers, they chose to work with FAF Coffees to raise quality and think of coffee as a beverage. Many are fourth generation producers working together through careful lot separation and slow natural drying on raised beds at their shared Serra dos Ciganos wet mill.
Their Catucai 24/137 tastes like that collective choice. Honeysuckle delicate and bright, sweet nuts grounding it, mulberry arriving like a memory of these mountains. This is what happens when families choose each other’s success over individual survival. Natural processing that honors the place they’re from.
